The coastal scenery surrounding Inverloch is beautiful and worth a visit. Drive the 13 kilometers along the Bunurong Cliffs to Cape Paterson and you will experience one of the hidden wonders of Victoria. The Bunurong Marine National Park covers 5 kilometers of coastline which includes the beautiful and untouched beaches of Shack Bay, Eagles Nest, Twin Reefs, The Oaks, and The Caves.
Stop at each of the beaches and discover hidden caves, walk along rocky cliffs, or have a swim in the beautiful clear waters. Drive from one seaside hamlet to the next, or take your time, stopping at scenic vantage points along the way. Make a stop at Twin Reefs, The Oaks, and Shack Bay for elevated panoramic views. Take a break at Eagles Nest, a sandstone stack formed out of headlands weathered by the elements. Low tide reveals sandstone formations and large rock pools, teaming with a vast array of marine life.
Enthusiastic paleontologists can go fossicking at the Dinosaur Dreaming site near Flat Rocks at low tide, where thousands of bones, teeth, and footprints from small dinosaurs have since been discovered.
Visit during summertime to explore some of the most beautiful beaches along Australia’s southern coastline or visit from May to October for the chance to see humpback and southern right whales making their migratory journey past the coast.
Anderson Inlet – the beautiful calm turquoise waters and expansive soft sand invite visitors of all ages to visit. The protected waters provide safe swimming and snorkeling for all age groups. Beach games, fishing, building sandcastles, and collecting shells are popular activities. Pack a picnic lunch, bring your favourite book, beach towels, and an umbrella and enjoy a day at beautiful Anderson Inlet. Windsurfing, fishing, and jet skinning are a popular choice. A selection of take away food shops are only a few minute’s walk from the beach.
Inverloch Surf Beach – a vast surf beach that is popular in summer. The surf life saving club is placed directly opposite the surf beach and is patrolled in summer. Plenty of car parking along Surf Parade and the surf life saving club are available. There are many walking tracks from the road to the surf beach. It is recommended to experience the magical sunsets which are a photographer’s dream from the surf beach.
Jetty and boat ramp – A convenient boat ramp is at Anderson Inlet and is suitable for launching large and small boats. A walk along the jetty is a must to take in the views of Anderson Inlet across to Venus Bay. The local resident stingrays may even swim past.
